Sandy McGregor, a Director at Allan Gray started his career in the 1970’s in the mines, spending some time at Gold Fields, in the commodity markets and finally joined Allan Gray in the early 1990’s. His focus is now economics and in this podcast he chats about inflation, world energy, China slowdown (he believes the Chinese risk is not financial but a slowdown in growth), dollar strength, world economies, SA and service delivery. He points to the fact that our “savings pool” is what is funding our deficit and that there is sufficient funding there to keep SA going. He touches on Eskom and renewables amongst other necessary investments – he believes the path is there and if it is pushed through it will work.
